'a rather gross materialism completed her relapse into irritability: The Webbs’ Australian Diary 1898 cut and erased’
THE LINDEN GALLERY, 2023
Xeroxed onto paste-up posters that extend beyond the gallery walls to appear outdoors on billboards scattered across local sites, Strahan’s work harnesses the radical energy, DIY ethos and countercultural spirit of punk and feminism, transforming her posters into public interventions that challenge the colonial voice by dismantling the language through which it is sustained.

Where the water gathers - 2021
“Listening to what lies hidden beneath Footscray I heard stories of purple flowers, teeming wildlife and whispering sheoaks, welcomings and ways of life lost and gained. As I walked through times of pandemic, I found the remnants of a lost waterway known as Billy Button Creek. This small creek was the only source of freshwater in the area pre and post-invasion. The land on which it’s situated, 43 - 57 Buckley st Footscray, is being prepared for the construction of four apartment blocks. In this performance based work I walked this lost creek bed chanting words of sorrow for the damage done and thanking the creek for the gift of water. In this way, I recognised the paradox of shame and thankfulness, and beyond this, honoured the strength and resilience of the small creek.”
